Gait Analysis




Gait analysis is the systematic study of human motion, using the eye and the brain of observers, augmented by various techniques for measuring body movements, and the activity of the muscles - As per Wikipedia.


Gait analysis is used to assess, plan, and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk. It is also commonly used in the area of sports to help athletes run more efficiently and to identify posture-related or movement-related problems in people with injuries.”


Gait Training




Once the cause has been determined it is possible to take corrective action.


Walking is most important for all of us thus gait training is

to help a patient relearn to walk safely and efficiently. At Revival Gait training is done by rehabilitation specialists who will evaluate the abnormalities in the person's gait and use different techniques and treatments as strengthening and balance training to improve stability.


At Revival Gait training is mainly done by using devices as parallel bars, walkers or canes to promote safe and proficient ambulation.


Sometimes the corrective action may be as simple as using a lift in the shoe to equalize by lengths or developing an exercise program to increase strength or flexibility at the hip, knee and ankle.


In order to walk again without assistance, the patient will need mental attentiveness and adequate sensation, coordinated with adequate musculoskeletal functioning and motor control.


The Gait correction is often required due to neurological or orthopedic impairment :


  • Patient after stroke.
  • Parkinson’s disease.
  • Ataxic gait –loss of muscular co ordination. Cerebral palsy children
  • Hemiperesis gait
  • Pathological gait in hip and knee disorders
  • After amputations.
  • Gait deviations in tight structures contractures and deformities.
